Moving Forward to the Supply Chain of the Future

To avoid being left behind and meet the multiple demands of consumers, organisations must engage in an innovative Supply Chain, accordingly with changing demographics global economies.

Multinationals will be designing more sophisticated Supply Chain networks, taking into consideration the location of their factories, warehouses, and how they flow product to customers.

Social Media platforms will be the most important tools in Supply Chain process.

Autonomous processes, as robots, distribution processes, material handling, camera sensors, motor controls, AI-based software, autonomous vehicles, Data Analytics, etc., will be embedded in the core of any SC activity. Actions will be taken to find the best transportation management solutions.

To cope with Supply Chain challenges, close collaboration between robots and humans in the SC will enhance new standards in all industries.

Supply Chain Segmentation, a process which goal is to find the best SC processes and policies, and to better serve each customer, will maximise both customer service and company profitability.

A global deep knowledge and improved strategic capabilities will be required to apply emerging innovated technologies, to ensure productivity and increased profitability within the Supply Chain. There will be the need for the Baby Boomers to keep their works after retiring to overcome the effects or the latest recession. They’re skilled workers to fill the lack for highly-prepared personnel, needed in your Supply Chain processes.

Service will become more important than Supply Chain itself, as organisations must be more focus on the customers’ benefits than that of their organisation.

Product speed delivery and reliability in your company, will position your SC to meet the challenges of an increasingly on-demand market, and will reduce costs too. The Uberisation of Freight, which refer to the success of Uber services, will be a change to take into consideration, as when goods arrive in jammed metropolitan areas, delivering becomes a big problem. Omni-channel fulfilment will be an option to cover a variety of delivery flow paths.

Digital Supply Chain Orchestration that encompasses IoT tools used through the Internet, will ensure fleet routing and tracking solutions, and the developing of Supply Chain Control Towers where the S&OP process is executed, will bring a successful SC.

More advanced public cloud networks, Social Media processes, innovative IoT, Predictive Analytics, Big Data, etc., will be an imperative need to be applied by Supply Chain expert.

Businesses will give a great emphasise in the corporation’s responsibility to society and to sustainability, to be aligned with the new trends and policies taken by green companies.
